Oh hey remember me?

Ok it’s been like four months since I appeared on here…sorry about that one (and thanks for all the messages! I’m thankfully not dead or anything)

I don’t promise to come back to this…in fact more than likely I won’t. But I’m now a Twitter addict so you can watch my life over there

https://twitter.com/kenzibeans

I finished my first semester at Columbia…and graduate school is kicking my ass and I’m completely in love. I’ve made the greatest friends there and actually feel like I need a bigger skull for all the amazing things I’m learning.

Life’s been pretty wonderful. New York City has become my home and I can’t really imagine leaving (I’m visiting my parents now, and frankly my hometown just doesn’t feel like home anymore…)

So I just wanted to let you all know that I’m doing really well over here and hope you are too :]

Oh and p.s. if you haven’t seen “Perks of Being a Wallflower” you should, and if you haven’t read “The New York Regional Mormon Singles Halloween Dance” by Elna Baker you should!

Oh and I’d like to salute Barack Obama on here, because I completely missed the election on Tumblr…but this is me and my lovely new friend drunk-crying when we found out he’d won.

Hi Kenzi!:) I'm going to be in New York City this weekend &I wanted to know if you had any recommendations as to where to go or any advice you could give? Thank you!:) letitbesetfree

I suck. I just saw this.

I have COMPLETELY fallen off the blogosphere this week…
I HOPE YOU HAD A FABULOUS TIME <3

More Wise Words From Kenzi’s Dad

“If you’re not early you’re late”

“I have a family here. A family in England. If we had a poodle I’d have a family in France.”

“I’ve been de-(name of old boss). It’s like deworming”

“Baths are for sissies.”

“I am wearing pants. Underpants.”

Kenzi. The Hudson River. The iPhone. And a Bee.

I was upstate all week nannying for those two little kids.

In their backyard is the most amazing view of the Hudson.

View the view.

And as you can see in the photo I got the view from this almost-comfy big flat rocks. So for my hour-long break, I’d bring a book, my phone and my headphones to the biggest and flattest rock and I’d chill and be the happiest thing ever.

View me being happy.

and then a bee landed on me.

View what I believe this bee looked like.

So I mean…I sort of jumped up/swatted…and threw my iPhone into the river.

So I dove into the river!

Into the CONTAMINATED. DISGUSTING. Hudson River.

So hysterical crying I drove the the store, stuck it in a bag of rice…and cried more.

So after several calls to the insurance company.

THE PHONE WORKED.

(well aside from the camera which is done)

but it’s still a small miracle.

That’s all folks.

Oh actually I do have some news. I fixed up the lair

Off to Find Nature

So the adorable family I’m babysitting is taking me to some little lake town with them all week!

With any luck I’ll have internet and therefore have something to blog about because aside from having a few friends visit me this week and reading A LOT I’ve really not had much to say.

That’s the only downside to having moved to the city. I miss nature terribly. I sit in the window in the courtyard but I miss big open green. I’ve seen one squirrel in the last two weeks…

So I’m basically really excited to hang out with my 2 and 4-year-old buddies and be outside :]

Oh I start graduate school a week from tomorrow. EEEEEK.

The Good Luck Day

guys. best day ever. guys. it’s so good.

Woke up this morning and the lovely exterminator came by and made sure no more cock roaches freak me out.

I got a Groupon deal in the mail…$15 off any Groupon. So I was like hmmm well I could get this $50 Groupon for some ugly watch for $35…

AND THEN I SAW IT.

$30 Groupon for $50 worth of books at the amazing used bookstore I rave about on here every few days.

Therefore…$15 off…$15 GROUPON FOR $50 WORTH OF USED BOOKS.

I frigging ran to the store. Bought 11 books (the nice man gave me one for free because he’s so friendly and we’re buddies now)

So I’ve now added:
Villette - Charlotte Bronte
Tess of the D’Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy
Gulliver’s Travels - Jonathan Swift
Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith
The House of the Seven Gables - Nathaniel Hawthorne

And for some newer stuff, The History of Love, Cider House Rules, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (because my copy went missing)

AND THEN

I went to Starbucks
and ordered a grande frappuchino
and they charged me for said grande frappuchino
and they gave me a venti
and life was delicious.

AND THEN

I went to get my hair done because it’s looked horrible for months and I couldn’t afford to get it done. BUT I BOUGHT ANOTHER GROUPON.

Guys the nicest girl in the world like slaved over my hair. She’s basically a guru or a genius
because I now look like this

(uploading as a photo…something’s wrong with Tumblr)
